Seduced by the philosophy behind the A4xX project (which aims to make art accessible to everyone) and sharing its values, OliveOlivier created a special work for it.
He wrote a sentence on a sheet of A4 paper.
This sentence is a quote from Jean Cocteau. He simply copied it down.
He then rewrote the sentence, taking care to follow the outline of each letter. So he copied it down again.
Finally, he took a photo of the sheet of paper on which he had written this sentence, thus transforming this manuscript (an original) into a multiple.
Beyond what could be perceived as a simple joke, his goal is to offer a work that everyone can make their own.
Thus, as with any engraving technique, each copy will be different (even if only slightly) with each print.
Each person who prints this digital file will therefore have a different version of this work.
It is in this spirit that it was designed and proposed for the A4xX collection: a free and unlimited work, but one in which each buyer will have a unique version among an infinite number of possibilities... and therefore copies.
